The coastal ecosystem is also excellent to understand the unique culture many beachside towns boast. Legend has it that Saint Thomas himself came to the shores of Kerala and the first converts to Christianity were from among the fisherfolk. A prevalence of Judeo-Christian customs combined with fishing practices adopted to local conditions give these towns a cultural backdrop that can be distinct from what you observe elsewhere.
As for the backwaters, many of them run through villages which are the very definition of rustic beauty. Largely preserved as if in a time capsule, these villages follow the rhythms of life as lived in a bygone era; with many natives engaged in traditional occupations and people living in synch with nature.
PACKAGE ITINERARY
In this package, we focus to explore more Kerala beaches and Backwaters areas and activities. Kerala’s main famous beaches are Kovalam, Cherai, Varkala and Marari Beach. Kerala’s main famous backwaters are Alleppey, Kuttanad,Kumarakom and Poovar. Houseboat ride is the main attraction in the Kerala backwaters location and it engages all five senses.
Day 1 - Arrive at Cochin, Our representative will receive you at the Cochin International Airport and will escort you to the hotel. Enjoy all the amenities of the resort for a day.
Day 2 – Visit Alleppey beach and can go for local places sightseeing and shopping. Evening Kerala seafood preparation demonstration. Overnight stay at the same resort.
Day 3 - Alleppey Houseboat journey: Set out on an enchanting overnight backwater cruise in traditionally decorated houseboats. Could see on boat journey - Chinese fishing nets, bowed down paddy fields, making coir products, rustic homes, ancient temples, and swaying coconut groves.
Day 4 – Kumarakom backwaters boat journey and Bird Sanctuary visit. Can see local people fishing methods, pluck huge coconuts and learn de-husking and traditional food explore.
Day 5 - Check out from the hotel and drive to Kovalam. On the way to kovalam also can see lots of nature-centric places and beaches (fisherman’s houses, fishing boats, very old temples, and churches, Harbour etc). Kovalam beach feels the tropical sun and feels contented with the golden suntan. Enjoy all the amenities of the resort for a day.
Day 6 – Kovalam, we have a lot of beach activities to indulge in like - kayaking, swimming, surfing, and skiing. Also, massaging centers are available alongside the beach. Other places are fishing harbor, Hawa Beach, Lighthouse Beach, Vellayani Lake etc.
Day 7 – Poovar Island visit – Poovar the shady land where the river clasps the sea. Poovar backwater boating experience gives more memorable sightseeing. The biggest attraction near the seashore is Poovar island noted for its golden sand beach. Anothercurious sight from the beach is Elephant Rock and floating restaurants.
Day 8 - Padmanabhaswami temple visit, renowned for its towering gopuras and temples arts and paintings. This temple is a blend of the Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture. It is believed to be the world’s richest temple. In the evening travel back to Kovalam resort.
Day 9 - Have your morning breakfast while enjoying the surrounding beauty and ambiance of the resort. Get dropped at the airport by our representative.
